My Simple Body Detox

So, although Spring is not really official until the 20th March, always look at the 1st March with optimism that it is definitely on it's way. This week I want to focus on preparing for a good old-fashioned Spring clean.

When I do this, I tend to work 3 fold...

- Detoxing my body

- Clearing my mind

- Decluttering my home

I don't do anything super hardcore and I always try to never put too much pressure on myself (life is stressful enough as it is thank you very much), but it's nice to get yourself in the right frame of mind to be ready for the next season.

Today, I want to talk about how I like to detox my body. It's pretty simple, doesn't take a lot of effort but makes me feel better in the long run.

I don't have a weird diet to follow or juice cleanse, I just stick to the following things for around 5-7 days...

  • Try and drink a minimum of 2 litres of water each day. I tend to do this most days anyway, but I actually measure how much I drink instead of just guessing

  • Move for at least 30 minutes each day (yoga, walking, etc even if it means waking up earlier to fit it in)

  • Avoiding any processed sugar and foods. It should come from a plant and not a plant... if you get what I mean!

  • Avoiding anything I find hard for my body to digest (cheese, eggs, fish - I don't eat meat or dairy but I would put these in this category too)

  • Avoid alcohol or coffee (if I need caffeine I will have a matcha green tea)

  • Have a smoothie for breakfast each morning (and afternoon if I get hungry) to allow me to make better choices throughout the day. Check out my all day smoothie recipe here

I try and do a full shop for the week in advance so I'm organised and then on a Sunday evening I will just prep everything. This includes smoothies in bags, ingredients for lunches/dinners such as cooking lentils, roasting veggies, cooking quinoa etc. Then on Monday I just begin!

I try and do 7 days if I feel a bit sluggish, otherwise 5 days usually works fine for me just to make my body feel a bit lighter and cleaner.

I hope this helps you, how do you cleanse your body for Spring?

Thanks so much for reading,
