How To Be Makeup Free For Summer

I know I've done posts similar to this before, but I guess this is more of an updated version. I stopped wearing makeup everyday around 5 years ago. I remember it was insanely hot in the clinic and doing treatments with steam and wearing a face mask (yep... have worn them for 15 years or more) my skin was struggling.

I decided to take a huge leap and stop wearing a 'full face' and instead the bare minimum. By the time I got back to work in 2020, this involves just concealer under my eyes and I've never felt happier!

Here are some of my tips how to reduce your makeup wearing for Summer...

Prioritise Skincare:

A healthy and glowing complexion is the key to wearing less makeup. Invest in a skincare routine that suits your skin type and addresses any concerns. A great skincare regimen will keep your skin in top condition, minimizing the need for heavy foundation or concealer. Contact me to book an appointment to get yourself on a great skincare plan.

Perfect Your Natural Base:

Ensure your skin is looking fresh and glowwy by incorporating active products such as the SkinBetter Science Peel Pads, SkinBetter Science AlphaRet Overnight Cream, Nimue Active Lotion/Gel or my Exfoliating Face Mask each week. Regular exfoliation and skin rejuvenating products will keep your complexion looking fresh and even. (Contact me to purchase products)

Choose a Light Base:

Instead of heavy foundations, opt for lightweight alternatives like tinted SPF's. I love the Nimue tinted SPF and also the SkinBetter Science ToneSmart SPF. These products provide a natural-looking, sheer coverage while protecting your skin from harmful UV rays. (Contact me to purchase products)

Focus on Sun-Kissed Glow:

Embrace the natural radiance of summer by adding a touch of bronzer or a light dusting of blush to the apples of your cheeks. This will give you a healthy, sun-kissed glow without the need for heavy contouring or heavy-handed application.

Define Your Eyes:

During the summer, shift your focus to enhancing your eyes rather than using heavy eye makeup. Maybe try a brow and lash tint with a lash lift instead of wearing lots of mascara. I love to use Revitalash every day to keep my lashes long.

Embrace Lip Stains and Tinted Balms:

Swap out heavy lipsticks for lip stains or tinted lip balms. These products provide a wash of color and moisture, keeping your lips hydrated and adding a fresh, effortless look to your makeup routine. Opt for shades that complement your natural lip color or choose soft pinks and corals for a summery vibe.

Don't Forget Sun Protection:

Sun protection is crucial during the summer months. Incorporate a broad-spectrum sunscreen into your skincare routine and reapply it throughout the day. Not only will this protect your skin from harmful UV rays, but it will also prevent premature aging and the need for excessive makeup coverage. I love to use the Nimue SPF 40 daily to protect my skin. (contact me to purchase)

Summer is the perfect time to let your natural complexion shine. By prioritising skincare, opting for lightweight base products, focusing on enhancing specific features, and embracing minimalism, you can confidently wear less makeup while still looking radiant and beautiful.
