How To Keep Your Neck and Décolletage Looking Young

When it comes to skincare, we often focus on our face and neglect other crucial areas like the neck and décolletage. However, these areas are just as prone to aging and so we really need to give them proper care to keep their youthful appearance. The skin on the neck and décolletage is delicate and can show signs of aging, such as crepiness, sagging, and wrinkles. Today I'm going to talk about why this happens and how you can effectively treat and prevent these signs with the right products and techniques.

Why Do We Get Aged and Crepey Skin on the Neck?

The skin on the neck and décolletage is thinner and has fewer oil glands compared to the skin on the face. This makes it more susceptible to dryness and aging. Additionally, these areas are often exposed to the sun, which accelerates the aging process through UV damage. Collagen and elastin fibers break down over time, leading to a loss of firmness and elasticity. Repeated movements, such as looking down at your phone or computer, can also contribute to wrinkles and sagging in these areas. It's also known as 'tech neck' which unfortunately a lot of us might experience considering all we do is look downwards now.

Here are my favourite ways to treat the neck and décolletage area...

1. My Fluorite Gua Sha

Using my fluorite gua sha tool can help improve circulation and lymphatic drainage, reducing puffiness and promoting a more youthful appearance. I love to do regular gua sha massages to also help stimulate collagen production, which is essential for maintaining skin elasticity. I like to incorporate this tool into my daily skincare routine by gently massaging the neck and décolletage area in upward and outward strokes. You only need a very small amount of product on the skin, such as The Face Oil or The Face Serum to help the tool glide.

2. Gold Globe Massager

The gold globe massager is another excellent tool for maintaining youthful skin on the jaw, neck and décolletage. This tool helps to increase blood flow, reduce inflammation, and promote lymphatic drainage. The cooling effect of the gold globes can also soothe and tighten the skin, making it look firmer and more radiant. I like to use this massager daily to enhance the benefits of my skincare products. I tend to use it after I have applied my serums such as the Forlle'd Refining Lotion or the Vitamin C Serum.

Collagen is a vital protein that provides structure and elasticity to the skin. As we age, our collagen production decreases, leading to wrinkles and sagging. Skinade is a patented collagen supplement that works from the inside out, boosting your body's natural collagen production. By incorporating Skinade into your daily routine, you can improve the overall health and appearance of your skin, including the neck and décolletage.

4. SkinBetter Science Techno Neck Cream

The SkinBetter Science Techno Neck Cream is specifically formulated to address the unique needs of the neck and décolletage. This cream strengthens and firms the delicate skin, improving the appearance of crepiness and laxity. It also provides intense hydration, enhancing the suppleness and texture of the skin. With regular use, you'll notice a more radiant and resilient neck and décolletage.

It can help to...

- Strengthen and firm delicate neck and chest skin.

- Improve the appearance of crepiness and laxity.

- Energise and hydrate the skin for a more radiant look.

- Enhance the skin’s antioxidant support system.

- Soften and improves texture, increasing suppleness.

5. Sun Protection

Always apply sunscreen to your neck and décolletage, even on cloudy days. UV damage is one of the primary causes of aging skin, so protecting these areas is crucial. It can also help if you can keep the area covered up, especially in the sun to prevent sun damage. My favourite SPF is always the Nimue Sun-C SPF 40 as it's so nourishing and also has anti-ageing and antioxidant properties too!

6. Hydration

Keep your skin hydrated from the inside out by drinking plenty of water. Well-hydrated skin is more resilient and less prone to wrinkles. Skinade can really help with this but I also love to mix in The Beauty Chef's Hydration Inner Beauty Boost with my Skinade for an extra hydrating kick!

7. Good Posture

It's important to maintain good posture to avoid creating wrinkles and lines from repeated movements. Be mindful of your posture, especially when using electronic devices as they can really contribute to crepey skin. I love to do regular yoga and pilates to keep my posture at it's best and my chest open.

8. Healthy Diet

A balanced diet rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals can support skin health. Foods like berries, nuts, and green leafy vegetables can help combat the signs of aging. Foods with a high vitamin C content can also boost your collagen production which is so important to keep the skin plump and healthy looking.

Remember not to neglect your neck and décolletage. We spend so much time taking care of our faces that sometimes we completely forget about anything south of the jawline! Take all of your products down to your chest area (and beyond!). Remember, consistency is key! You can really see an improvement to this area, but you must be looking after it daily to see the results.

I hope you have found this helpful,
