Top Tips For Working From Home

Well, it's official! We're all 'working from home' now where we can. I closed my clinic for treatments last week until further notice and so I guess I have quite a bit of time on my hands.

I am still trying to keep myself busy typing blog posts, updating my Insta Stories etc but it can be quite difficult to stay motivated during this time.

I decided to write this post about all the things that I've been doing token myself motivated. I hope it helps!

WAKE UP AT A NORMAL TIME

It's so tempting to lay in bed all morning watching tv, but to stay motivated it helps if you set yourself a time to get up. Now I'm not saying you need to be up and out of bed by 6am, but maybe during the week aim to be up by the same time each day to keep you in a routine. Similarly when it comes to going to bed in the evening, try not to stay up too late if you can avoid it.

SHOWER, GET DRESSED & SMARTEN UP

The idea of sitting in your bed on your laptop all day might sound wonderful to some, but for me, I need to feel like I'm in work mode a bit more. Wake up and then get in the shower, freshen up and get 'ready for work'. I am still wearing my tinted SPF and a bit of blusher to make me feel presentable.

CREATE A WORK SCHEDULE

What do you want to get done in the day? Do you have a list of tasks? Maybe write down your list at the end of the day of jobs you want to accomplish the following day to keep you motivated. I have tried to set times that I work, times that I eat and so on. That way my day doesn't all merge into one and I feel like I can have some structure - and not get sucked into that Instagram meme vortex!

HAVE A SET WORK AREA

I would recommend that this is not your couch! If you have an office at home then great, but otherwise set up a small area at home where you can dedicate to your work and keep tidy.

USE THE TIME TO INSPIRE YOURSELF

If you're employed and working from home then I guess your days are a little busier than mine. However, if you're self-employed and finding yourself twiddling your thumbs, then maybe it's a good time to do an online course and keep your brain working.

HAVE A BREAK

Where you can, get some fresh air to keep yourself awake. Circle your shoulders, move your arms and move your legs. Don't get to a point where you don't move all day.

EXERCISE

Which leads me on to my next point, get your body moving! Pretty much every yoga teacher I know is offering online classes now. We need to keep our bodies moving to keep us healthy. Go for a run or walk (obviously keeping social distance), do an online class or even doing some housework.... just keep exercising!

STAY HYDRATED

Get a jug or bottle of water at your work station to keep you hydrated. Have a green tea to boost your antioxidant levels and avoid sugary drinks if you can.

STAY HAPPY & HEALTHY

Put some good music on to lift your mood, eat food that's good for you, put down the cigarettes and get your supplements in.

I hope you found this helpful,

Stay safe guys,
